Aviation

GC Peters Law, PLLC represents members of the aviation community on a wide range of legal issues. Grover Peters is an experienced pilot with instrument and flight instructor ratings who is well-connected in the aviation community and committed, both professionally and personally, to advancing the interests of general and commercial aviation. We are truly peers of our clients and have an active, working knowledge of all things aviation, including the ever-changing regulatory environment, advancements in technology and equipment, and the broad range of legal challenges and issues that our clients face.

Our Aviation Law Practice includes the following key areas:

Corporate/Commercial Aviation Issues:

We understand the operations of corporate flight departments, charter operators (Part 135 and 125), aircraft management companies, fractional ownership programs, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) stations, air tour operators, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), aerial applicators, manufacturers, and airports. We advise and assist clients on a wide range of commercial and legal issues associated with the ownership and operation of aircraft, such as leases and other contracts, passengers and cargo claims, and employee relations, among others.

Aviation Financing and Lien Matters:

We can work with banking institutions in the recovery of distressed aviation assets and obtaining deficiency judgments, with commercial operators in the implementation and enforcement of liens, and with aircraft owners and operators in the resolution of title liens.

Aviation Regulatory Matters:

We have substantial experience that provides us the knowledge, skills and abilities to represent companies and individuals on regulatory matters such as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforcement cases and regulatory interpretations. This includes pilot and/or aircraft certification matters, hazardous materials issues, and accident investigations. Much of this work involves dealing with representatives of the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Airport and Fixed Based Operator (FBO) Representation:

We have the technical knowledge, experience and ability to zealously represent airports and FBOs on land-use and leasing issues and litigation matters, including defense of claims alleging negligence following mishaps at and near airports, FAA Grant Assurance compliance, including Part 13/16 Complaint defense, negotiating through-the-fence operations, hangar condominium developments, airport access issues, and tenant disputes.

Airline Representation:

Our team is capable of representing airlines in regulatory matters, transactions, and litigation. We are at an advantage with our high levels of understanding of the various duties and responsibilities of the flight crew, flight attendants, gate/tickets customer service representatives, ramp agents, and sky caps. We also understand the contractual relationships among carriers that may share access to each other’s premises, facilities, equipment and/or personnel; between carriers and airports; and between carriers and third parties. We understand the international treatises, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Air Carrier Access Act, and other laws affecting these types of matters.

Aviation Manufacturing:

We are prepared and able to represent aviation-related manufacturers in connection with alleged product defect litigation, FAA enforcement, and accident liability.

Aviation Insurance:

Our team handles a wide range of matters involving aspects of aircraft hull and liability insurance, including coverage analyses and litigation of coverage issues through declaratory judgment actions, trials, and appeals.
